I'm still annoyed that a tv schedule would come out with even a single road game left out, but in this year's case, at least it's in October. We'll probably be missing that game anyway.

As I've said before, I'm not even going to sweat it. I'll have things to do, and who knows, I may enjoy my other activities more than hockey and realize that I don't need to go through this every 6-8 years.

When play resumes I'll be back, but it's not going to be with the same enthusiasm as before. They're going to have to really work to win my total devotion back. I'll make up my mind in a couple of years whether or not to retain my season tickets. After all, I may just discover that there's life outside of the hockey arena.

Glad Bobby did the right thing. He's a man of morals many like those sellouts choosing to play in Europe for the money and stealing another person's job

Congrats to Colton Sissons, I work with his mother and follow his career closely because of it. Here's to hoping he has a very successful season in Kelowna in the "Dub" and gets to go to the Preds training camp ready to challenge for a spot in 2013/2014.

I understand your skepticism, but one thing that fans in Nashville are pretty darn lucky to have is a group of owners who really do try hard to please the fans and win them back. I do expect them to try, but this time it's going to have to be something more than having my name on a wall or getting a free jersey.

I think a lot of them are bluffing and toeing the company line. It's a threat to owners to have their players say they are going to go overseas. That they can move on without them.

I doubt very seriously Sidney Crosby is going to play in Europe despite what he's saying. Quite a few of the Europeans will likely go...but I bet most of the North Americans stay here.

Leafs do full or monthly with interest so you earn money on it.

I don't know, it's a bit of a two sided issue. If the NHL players head to Europe, the fans get a better product and the attendance is likely to shoot up. It's like in any competitive hockey environment, if you aren't in the top 20 or so, you're not going to make the team. The guys pushed out with be the fringe players, so there was a chance of that happening anyways.

If you really feel bad for the guys who aren't as good as NHL players, there are plenty of leagues here in North America that would be happy to have your financial support. I don't spend much going to lower league games; throw in some world class talent and I might be more interested.

I think for the NHL players, there is an adventure aspect as well, getting to live and play abroad. It won't likely last that long, so all the regualrs will probably be back to work in short order with the chance of a bigger following.

I will always be stunned that it has reached this point AGAIN in less than 10 years since the last one.

If they truly cared about the fans etc. they would be locked in a hotel room until they came out with a deal.

Here guys - take your two proposals - reach the middle and sign the deal - PLAY HOCKEY.

my sentiments exactly. ill still be a fan but as far as getting my money... they better hope i dont win the lottery cause then it would cost them millions. lol. and to pauls point on fault... i ALWAYS side w/ the owners, but not this time. i was sickened when the PA hired fehr cause i knew we would end up here, but the owners are the bigger problem. they basically got all they wanted last time and now they lockout cause they dont have enough. that even makes a guy like fehr seem sensible.

No it doesn't. The players are just as much if not more to blame then the owners for this. Anyone who believes any of the PR sh!t the NHLPA has been throwing out there is a couple fries short of a happy meal. You have five teams signing players to ridiculous contracts and twenty other teams losing money in a 30 team league. It's not working and players want to increase their revenue sharing to a larger margin then the owners? It's assinine. What buisness could you walk up to your boss and say i want YOUR money even though you are paying me 5 million dollars a year to play a game? Yeah, I know the arena holds 20000 and there is only 15000 coming to see me play but I don't care i want your money. Simplified it I know but to make a long story short...The players are out of their minds.

you miss my point. the owners got their chance, won the battle and now arent happy w/ the results. the bigger problem is them. and besides... the players are on record w/ continuing to play under current cba while negotiating. the owners voted to lockout anyway. i think they are missing the fries.

Players shouldn't sign with NHL teams either, as they might force a guy down to the AHL, making 80,000 a year instead of 500,000.

Sorry, but this is stupid. Fringe players get demoted all the time. He's not stealing anybody's job. He's just better at the job for that employer than the other guy is. And not continuing to play hockey just means he's going to be a step behind all the guys that do spend the year playing.

If he really feels bad, he can write part of his paycheck to the guy who gets demoted because of him.

Last time a Fehr led players' union agreed to extend play under a current contract if team owners agreed, they (the players led by Fehr) reneged halfway through the season and went on strike. Remainder of the season plus playoffs/WS was gone forever. Fans were teased by this charade and wasted the first half of the season thinking nothing bad would happen until after the season was over.

The NHL owners aren't quite that ignorant to let the smarmy NHLPA chief pull that stunt again. Besides, allowing a continuation this season would seriously weaken the owners' positions.

Fehr is a jerk a snake and a liar. Pretty much any cheap shot applies to Donald in my book. He is detestable.

Moving on, the players have some legitimate points (there are always two sides) but I am leaning more with the owners. I think their ranks are strong and their rationale sound. I also believe that they have a broader vision of where they feel the league as a whole needs to be to prosper in the long run. Correctly structured, everyone can win in that respect.

Paul McCann: In Praise of Bobby Ryan... and moreIt is my belief that serious negotiations haven’t even begun yet. Despite their numerous protestations, neither side is listening to the other, neither side is listening to the fan and neither side seems interested in meeting each other halfway. I guess my definition of serious seems to be different that the participants in this process…

Neither the NHL or NHLPA really gives a crap what the "fans" are saying. We are all just wallets with legs to them. That's why all the petitions and fan videos won't matter.

Bettman and the owners are betting that the fans will return like they did in 2005. He's probably right, too. I know that I will immediately start watching the games when the resolve the dispute. I probably won't buy tickets for awhile, though.
